Patch 3.2 Mount Changes

Patch 3.2 Mount Changes

Patch 3.2 introduced some major changes to mounts and the riding skill. This article gives a brief overview of those changes. You can find complete patch notes for Patch 3.2 on Blizzard's WoW website.

Yes, that means that you can start riding at level 20. Even better, you can get your first flying mount at level 60 and start flapping around Outland immediately.

Previously, you could not take advantage of faction discounts for Expert or Artisan training or mounts. In Patch 3.2, however, faction discounts do apply to these purchases, which can reduce the cost even further.

Faction discounts can save you from 5% to 20% off the original price, so you can save up to 1000 gold off your Artisan training if you are Exalted with the proper faction. (See WoW Wiki for more details on faction discounts.)

For Expert training and mounts, you get a discount based on your reputation with Honor Hold (for Alliance), or Thrallmar (for Horde).

For Artisan training and mounts, you get a discount based on your reputation with Honor Hold or Valiance Expedition (for Alliance), or Thrallmar or Warsong Offensive (for Horde).

Faster Mounting, Faster Flapping

In addition to these changes, there are two others you may well notice:

  • The cast time for summoning any mount is now 1.5 seconds, down from 3 seconds.
  • Mounts at the Expert level now fly faster: at +150% of run speed, up from +60%.
